It is always dangerous to offer any sort of prediction, so let’s have a go.
We certainly have not seen the end of Greta Thunberg, in fact I think her words and her influence has only just started. Without doubt, there will be more Greta this year, which combined with global events such as the Australian bushfires, can only lead to greater interest in the environment. Worryingly, we are only now starting to care about the legacy we are leaving our children and grandchildren.
It is also going to be about even newer technologies, perhaps even a move away from the FAANG companies, and better diversity across the workplace.
In asset management, we have seen the relentless growth of passives, which is only going to continue, with further focus on fees and increased development/ expansion in the algo/ CTA space.
