December 2024

This month our guests explore the fast-growing world of private credit.

November was a very good month for most hedge funds as they profited from the Trump bounce, although some of the more EM-focused funds struggled against headwinds. EQT raised its hard cap, Bain closed fundraises, TPG hit a new marker and Shamrock was on the money. Millennium has been making some big manager allocations. BlackRock acquired HPS Investment Partners. Blackstone announced a JV with EQT Corporation. Mubadala took a 42% stake in Silver Rock. Stonepeak bolstered its private credit offerings with Boundary Capital. SSGA partnered with Bridgewater. Bitcoin-focused funds had a field day. Plus more...

December features

  • SLR Capital Partners' Mitch Soiefer writes about the rise of asset-based lending.

  • Prosek's Joshua Clarkson goes "all aboard the asset-based train."

  • M&G's Aramide Ogunlana looks at the opening up of private markets.

  • Pluto Finance's Robert Swift zooms in on UK housing and how private credit is playing an important role.

  • LyRa's Paolo Dotta & Adil Kurt-Elli look at Significant Risk Transfer transactions.

In Letter from America, our friend Prosek's Mark Kollar addresses what he terms the "silent green" in Climate and Energy Transition policies. Given so much is happening in the US with the "changing of the guard," educated guesses are being made about what this means going forward, particularly for climate change policies. As Mark points out, from a communications standpoint, even more work will need to be done on how investments in climate add value to help reduce costs.

RQC has plenty to say about the regulatory goings-on in the UK, covering enforcements, the investment research regime, UK MiFID and transaction reporting. In the US, the team looks at enforcement results and the overturning of the SEC's Dealer Rule.
