October 2022

The latest Hedge is out today, looking back at September.

The performance data is in and although hedge funds largely underwhelmed, this was another month for the macro manager. In private equity, there was plenty of activity, not necessarily in terms of the big buck exits, or even performance stats, instead there have been sizeable fund raisings - all the more impressive in a world where the cost of the funding has become that much more expensive.

We also look at some of the musical chairs going on at various big funds, developments in crypto, ESG, regulatory news and much more.

For this edition, we are delighted to have Ruffer’s Omar Kodmani writing about the appetite and investor direction towards alternatives. There have been changes and it is becoming ever more nuanced, with US investors rethinking the role of hedge funds in their portfolios, while in Europe it is still about TLC and ESG.

We are once more joined by the The Money Maze Podcast, which in only a short time has had a tremendous impact on the world of finance and is now offering more bespoke Curated options.
